What’s the difference between disconnect terminals that are vinyl-insulated and fully insulated?

The vinyl-insulated terminals are only insulated around the barrel of the terminal. The fully insulated terminals will cover not only the barrel, but the male or female end of the terminal as well. When the terminals are mated, it creates a protective cover around the connection to keep out dirt and prevent shorts.
