Because cable ties are made of nylon, they will have a natural tendency to lose moisture over time as they are exposed to the air. Drier environments will speed up this process. To help extend the life of a bag of cable ties after they have been opened, add a drop or two of water to the bag, and then seal the top of the bag shut with tape. Make sure there are no other holes in the bag. If this is done each time a bag of cable ties is taken out and used, the shelf life of the ties will be greatly extended.
Standard shelf life on cable ties is 1 year from the date of production.
